THE WINDS OF ABSHERON

Solo exhibition by Butunay Hagverdiyev. 21 July - 03 August 2022 The landscape is by no means as simple and uncomplicated a genre as it may seem. The artist is infinitely closer to nature and its subtle states within this genre. Moreover, the landscape is not blind imitation and copying but a thoughtful comprehension and portrayal of nature's emotional state. Butunay Hagverdiyev's virtuoso mastery of drawing and painting techniques allows him to convey the fullness of feelings; when you forget that you are faced with a manufactured painting and only catch yourself wondering how a man could create an absolute reality with inanimate paint, convey the nature of objects, particularly of rare Soviet cars, and create an illusion of human presence. Everything is harmonious in Butunay's works. The nature of his native Absheron is calm and serene. The master achieves this state with the help of exquisite gradations of light. With his masterful technique, the author conveys the harmony he felt while painting. We can feel the love with which each work of art was created. The author has brought us the condition of the end of summer when almost imperceptibly in the air, one feels the approach of autumn. Each artist's landscape is a mood scape, a declaration of love for Absheron. Butunay’s paintings have what distinguishes a great artist - the ability to show something momentary, which escapes others, in an image familiar to everyone. The past and the present wonderfully unite the artist on one cloth, and the lyrical landscape gives a depth of philosophical understanding of the world order. Butunay’s paintings attract viewers with their uncomplicated composition and simplicity. Sunlit old cars create a charming play of light and shadow. The artist's attention to detail and his sensitive work with composition are fascinating, transforming a modest landscape into an actual example of realistic art.
