My Seas My Oceans

The United Nations Office at Geneva, Permanent Mission of Azerbaijan to UN Office at Geneva, in collaboration with the Heydar Aliyev Foundation and IDEA (International Dialogue for Environmental Protection) are delighted to announce the My Seas My Oceans exhibition. The exhibition will run from June 14 to June 30, 2020, at the Palais des Nations, Mezzanine, E Building. Curators Emin Mammadov and Viktoriya Dzodziyev introduce the fascinating exhibition of works by 9 Azerbaijani contemporary artists that draw attention to the need to save the Earth’s blue lungs and conserve water for future generations and remind us that creativity is the best way for achieving the SDGs. Achieving the SDGs requires the partnership of governments, the private sector, civil society and citizens alike to make sure we leave a better planet for future generations. Art is undoubtedly one of the most effective tools to communicate the seriousness of the challenges faced by the global community in providing a healthy environment and advancing sustainable development. Among such challenges is having the capacity to promote education on environmental dimensions of sustainable development, including issues such as climate change, pollution, overfishing, and species loss. By focusing their creativity and messages on such problems, Diana Aliyeva, Elshan Karaca, Erkin Alakbarly, Gunel Ravilova, Javid Ilham, Leyla Aliyeva, Mirali Seyidov, Nazrin Khalafova and Nazrin Mammadova significantly increase awareness of them and garner public support for environmental action, thus contributing towards the solution of issues addressed by the Global Goals.
