Naila Sultan

Painter

Born in 1959 in Baku, Azerbaijan In 1975-1979, she studied at the A. Azimzade Art School. In 1979-1984, she continued her education at the M. Aliyev Institute of Arts. Since 1984, she has been an active participant in republican, all-union, international exhibitions and symposia, became a member of the Union of Artists of Azerbaijan in 1991, and participated in the Biennale in Venice in 2009.

Naila Sultan is a leading ceramic artist, and has participated in numerous ceramics symposia in different countries.

Exhibitions: 1994 - first solo exhibition, "Center of Miniature ", Baku, Azerbaijan 1998 - solo exhibition, Art Gallery, Baku, Azerbaijan 1999, 2002, 2003, and 2004 - solo exhibitions, "Center of Miniature", Baku, Azerbaijan 2010 – participant, Ceramics Symposium, Israel 2014 - 5th International Festival of Arts "Maiden Tower," Baku, Azerbaijan 2014 - solo exhibition, Baku, Azerbaijan 2017 - solo exhibition TURAN, Union of Artists, Baku, Azerbaijan 2019 - solo exhibition, Union of Artists, Baku, Azerbaijan Naila Sultan’s works are stored in the Museum of the East and the Museum of Applied Art in Moscow and in private collections.

In her works of contemporary art she uses traditional Azerbaijani motifs such as pomegranate, miniatures, Gobustan rock drawings, geometric lines taken from carpets.
