Hafiz Mammadov

(1921 – 1995)
1941- graduated from the Azerbaijan School of Art named after A.Azimzade and started his pedagogical activity there
1946 –52 studied at the Moscow State Academic Institute named after V.I.Surikov
1946- elected as member of the USSR Union of Artists
1959-73 – exhibited in Egypt, Syria, Lebanon, Iraq, Sudan, Morocco, Tunisia, Hungary, Romania and other countries
1980- awarded the title of the Honored Art Figure of Azerbaijan

 

Honored Artist of the Republic of Azerbaijan
Hafiz Mammad oglu Mammadov was born in Baku in 1921. During his education at the institute, Hafiz Mammadov participated in the republican and All-Union exhibitions.
Upon his return to Baku after graduation from the institute in 1952, he already had a rich art biography and formed his specific themes and developed his style of painting.
His work at the Azerbaijan State School of Art named after A.Azimzade since the 1950s also contributed to his formation as a master of painting. The solo exhibitions of the artist were held in a number of cities of our country in different years. Hafiz Mammadov created successful portraits already in the first years of his activity. Landscapes and still lives also have a place in his creativity. In his compositions of these genres, the artist featured the picturesque places of our republic, the pleasures of the table with a poetic inspiration. A number of his paintings are now kept in museums as the valuable patterns of art.
